The Path to Literacy Success
Every child’s journey to becoming a confident reader is unique. I utilize the research-based IMSE Orton-Gillingham curriculum to provide specialized, one-on-one tutoring—available both in-person and virtually—to address the root of each student's challenges.
My work begins with a comprehensive diagnostic assessment to pinpoint your child's exact needs. From there, I develop a personalized scope and sequence to fill learning gaps and build a solid foundation. I teach to mastery, ensuring every skill is solidified before moving to the next level. At the end of every session, you will receive detailed notes and practical at-home tips to support continued progress between meetings. To keep you fully informed of your child's long-term growth, I provide quarterly progress updates highlighting milestones and data-driven improvements.

Explicit Instruction
There is no guesswork here. Every rule, sound, and spelling pattern is taught directly and clearly. I explain the "why" behind the language, ensuring students understand the logic of how words are built. We move through a clear "I Do, We Do, You Do" process until the student can apply the skill independently.
Proven Effectiveness
The Orton-Gillingham approach is the gold standard for literacy instruction. It is evidence-based and highly effective for all learners, including those with dyslexia or general reading gaps. By focusing on the mechanics of how the brain actually learns to read, we achieve results that last a lifetime.
Structured & Systematic
Literacy is a ladder, and we don't skip any rungs. The curriculum follows a logical Scope and Sequence that moves from the simplest sounds to the most complex multisyllabic words and Latin roots. Each lesson builds directly on the last, ensuring that the foundation is rock-solid before we move forward.
Multisensory Learning
We engage the brain by simultaneously using Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic, and Tactile (VAKT) pathways. Whether it’s tracing letters in sand, tapping out sounds on our arms, or using physical cues for tricky vowels, this "hands-on" approach helps neural pathways "stick," making learning far more memorable than traditional methods.
The IMSE Orton-Gillingham Approach: Why It Works
I utilize the IMSE Orton-Gillingham framework—a world-class approach rooted in the Science of Reading. By providing students with the right tools instead of just 'more practice,' I help demystify language and turn reading struggles into literacy success.
The "Fun" in Fundamentals
In addition, I keep this rigorous process engaging by making the "Big Five" a dynamic part of our routine. Whether we are using multisensory games to isolate sounds or interactive techniques to boost reading speed, we ensure that every building block of literacy is practiced through active, hands-on learning.
